The Myth of the “PERFECT” Life: The Real Scam

We’re living in a world where the “ideal lifestyle” is sold to us like a shiny, perfect package. Everywhere we turn, we’re bombarded by images of flawless lives—luxurious homes, exotic holidays, perfectly curated social media feeds, and careers that promise to fulfil every dream we’ve ever had.

These images make us believe that happiness and success are just one purchase, decision, or click away.

But here’s the truth, babe: this ideal lifestyle is made-up.

It’s not real. It’s a product of years of clever marketing and social conditioning, designed to make us feel like we’re missing something unless we buy into it. The "perfect" life is not the same for everyone, and it’s certainly not the one you’ve been sold. It’s a curated, polished version of reality that’s been carefully constructed to make us believe we’re never enough unless we’re living it. The truth is, we’re all just humans trying to find our way, navigating life with our own unique sets of values, desires, and dreams. And that’s the beauty of it.

Stop Chasing Perfection—It’s A Scam!

Here’s the thing, babe: the ideal lifestyle has been sold to you as a product because it’s easier for others to profit off your insecurities. It’s not about you—it’s about them. It’s easier to sell us things if we’re constantly made to feel like we’re incomplete, flawed, or lacking something. And that’s where the real power lies. The power is in embracing your own truth—your own imperfect, beautiful, messy life. You don’t need to fit into anyone’s mould to be worthy, lovable, or successful. In fact, it’s your uniqueness that makes you irreplaceable.

So, stop chasing a version of life that doesn’t feel right for you.

Stop trying to live up to someone else’s idea of success. Start living the life that feels true to you—your real, authentic, unfiltered self. Let go of the comparisons, and remember: you are already enough.

You’re already part of the tribe. You’re already whole.

The History of Perfection—A Marketing Tactic

You might be wondering, where did this obsession with perfection begin? It didn’t happen overnight. The concept of an ideal life has been cultivated for decades by those who profit off our desire to be "better," "richer," and "more beautiful."

It all began in the 1920s, when the modern advertising industry took off. This was a time when marketers began to understand the power of influencing emotions. They realised that if they could tap into our insecurities, they could sell anything. For the first time, people were being marketed not just products, but lifestyles—ideas about how life could be if we only had the right things, the right look, the right connections.

Throughout the years, this messaging evolved with media. By the 1950s, television ads were everywhere, portraying perfect families in perfect homes. The 80s saw a rise in the “rich and successful” lifestyle, with luxury cars and designer clothes flashing across our screens. Today, we see this same formula played out in social media, influencer culture, and glossy magazine covers.

Don’t you just cringe when you see so many women turning to cosmetic surgery? Fake rarely looks good.

It’s not just about owning things anymore—it’s about trying to create an entirely new identity, yuk!

And here’s the thing: a newborn baby can't read a mother's face if it's frozen with Botox. They miss out on a fundamental connection, that bond that’s built through genuine, unmasked expression.

This isn't about living well. It’s about creating a narrative that feeds on your fears of not being good enough. The myth of the “perfect” life is a marketing construct, a story designed to get us to buy more, do more, and ultimately feel less than.

The First Step: Reclaim Your Power

The first step is simple: Stop and listen, babe.

Ask yourself: What would my ideal day look like, if no one was watching or judging? And then, go about living it.

You deserve a life that reflects who you truly are, not who marketers want you to be, so that they can become wealthy. You deserve a life of peace, joy, and authenticity. So take a step back, reclaim your power, and start designing the life that feels good to you—not anyone else.

Your body feels it all, the tension of bending yourself out of your mould, is anxiety provoking.

Remember this, babe: The "perfect" lifestyle is nothing more than a man-made construct designed to make you feel incomplete, just so others can profit. Your real, authentic life is the one you create when you let go of perfection, embrace your true self, and live on your own terms.

True self-love

Someone recently asked me, “What is living with self-love?” I answered: In my experience, it’s when you feel calm, excited, relaxed, energised, content, on purpose, and doing what feels meaningful.

Your body knows when you are doing what's best for you, what’s ideal for you—not the marketing men from the 1920s.

The world doesn’t need your “perfect life.” The world needs you, exactly as you are. The magic is in the uniqueness, in the beauty of being real. So go ahead—stop chasing the ideal life and start living the one that’s yours to create. Because that’s where the real freedom lies.

It’s time to stop chasing someone else’s version of perfection. Start today, babe. Take a moment to reflect on what feels true for you, again, your body knows, and commit to creating a life that celebrates your authenticity. You are more than enough, and your unique journey is your power.

You can do this, and I am here to guide you, should that feel helpful.

Let’s start living it. You deserve it.

Love & Stardust,
